Not long ago, falls from height were the main concern in the prevention of accidents in the construction industry, but since the introduction of the 'Work At Height Regulations' in 2003, falls whilst working at height are some of the major issues being addressed by the Health and Safety Executive ( HSE ).

Since 2000 Albion Training Services have been conducting training courses to assist employers and the self employed in carrying out their duties under the 'Health And Safety At Work Act 1974'.

Prior to 2003 the majority of our clients were contractors and sub contractors working in the construction industry, but with the introduction of the Work At height Regulations our clientele has increased and become more varied and diverse. These include professions such as lorry drivers, office personnel, teachers, warehouse operatives, quarrymen, stage hands, technicians and numerous other jobs.

Albion Training Servicesâ€™ instructors have spent many years working in the access equipment industry as operatives working at height and also as managers and directors controlling personnel where falls from height posed major risks.

We offer training to anyone who work or control others who work at height. Courses vary from training using specific items of access equipment such as scaffold towers, ladders and steps, hydraulic work platforms, fall arrest equipment, system scaffolds, tallescopes and pedal lifts, to courses for operatives working in specific areas such as working on flat or pitched roofs, tanks, scaffolding, backs of lorriesâ€¦in fact anything that anyone can fall from.

Depending on your requirements, training courses can be specifically designed and conducted on your own premises or at our training in the West Midlands or in St Helens

Courses can be conducted to relevant accreditation where applicable eg. PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association) for scaffold towers, BLMA (British Ladder Manufactures Association) for ladders and steps and IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) for hydraulic work platforms via our sister training company.

The inspection of tube and fitting scaffolds, along with system scaffolds and scaffold towers have long been the domain of the scaffolding contractor. With a background of over thirty years in the scaffolding industry, Albion Training Services can conduct training courses to inspect basic scaffolds in tube and couplers or system scaffolds. Alternatively we can train operatives in the management and/or the supervision of scaffolding operations.

Access tower training, accredited by PASMA ( Prefabricated Access Suppliers & Manufacturers Association ) can be conducted on your site or at one of our PASMA training centres.

Although ladders and step ladders are frowned on by some employers, they still remain the most commonly used item of choice for working at height. Albion Training Services can provide training on ladders and steps accredited by the BLMA ( British Ladder Manufacturers Association ). Along with all of our courses these can be conducted at our BLMA training centre in West Bromwich.

Since the introduction of the Work at Height Regulations three years ago, the use of safety harnesses has increased to the extent that they are inexpensive and relatively easy to use. This can obscure wears of the fact that these are very dangerous items of personal protective equipment. Regulations state that users of safety harnesses should be trained in their inspection and use. Albion Training Services can provide such training along with rescue techniques also required by the Work at Height Regulations 2005
