Vinci lands two Polish building contracts

5 Apr 12 Vinci has won contracts to build a new concert venue in Katowice and a Warsaw complex inspired by the Flatiron Building in New York.

Vinci Construction company Warbud will build the new venue of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. The 35,000m2 structure, whose architecture suggests a sheaf of sheet music, will house a 1,800-seat concert hall, a 300-seat chamber music auditorium, a music education room for children and a jazz club. The project also covers the area around the building, including an outdoor amphitheatre and green spaces. The works, with a value of 鈧45.5m (拢37m), will take 20 months to complete.

Warbud will also build the Plac Unii complex in the centre of Warsaw. Plac Unii Lubelskiej is a major hub and a historic square that brings together two neighbourhoods, 艢r贸dmie艣cie and Mokotow. The project, which covers a total surface area of 105,000m2, includes two 7-level buildings and a 90m, 21-storey tower that takes architectural inspiration from the Flatiron Building. A glass roof at a height of 30m will connect the three buildings. In addition to 41,000m2 of office space, the Plac Unii complex will house a three-level, 15,500m2 shopping centre with restaurants, caf茅s, shops and a supermarket. The works, with a value of 鈧60m (拢50m), will be completed in 20 months.
