The proposals had been unveiled last summer. The 10-year programme is a series of 60 enhancements including the expansion and reconfiguring of Terminal 2, to become the airport鈥檚 primary terminal building. Terminal 3 will be improved聽 to cater for increased demand and an expanding flight schedule. There will also be new and enlarged airside transfer facilities, including the direct link between Terminals 2 and 3.
Galliford Try, Carillion and BAM Construction are the framework contractors for the airport鈥檚 capital delivery framework. (link opens in new tab) and Arcadis was appointed project manager in December.
Among the other developments will be a US 鈥榩re-clearance鈥 facility, allowing passengers to clear immigration, customs, and agricultural inspection before boarding their flight. There will also be聽 new stands and piers and improvements to the road system serving the airport.
The programme is being phased to minimise disruption; all the improvements will take place within the existing footprint.
