The development includes construction of a new two-storey student services building and a new main reception area and learning zone at the university鈥檚 College Lane campus. Work also includes the refurbishment of a number of existing buildings at the campus in Hatfield.
The project is part of the university鈥檚 鈥�2020 Estates Vision鈥� redevelopment plan that will transform the university鈥檚 College Lane and de Havilland campuses.
The new-build development is designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, with several water-saving features and a green roof, planted with sedum vegetation to absorb rainwater and provide insulation.
The existing buildings will be remodelled internally, creating open-plan learning and student union facilities.
The project is due to complete in May 2014 and will see around 80 people working on site at the peak of construction.
