The consortium, which also includes GOPA and SCET Tunisia, was selected by the Ministry of Education for the Modernisation des 脡tablissements Scolaires (MES) scheme. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is co-financing the three-year nationwide initiative, which will lead to nearly 60 new schools and the renovation of 310 educational facilities.
Education is a strategic sector for the Tunisian government, with the Ministry of Education having one of the largest stakes in the national budget. The current educational facilities modernisation initiative will increase elementary school capacity by 200,000 students. Across the country, about 238,000 high school students will benefit from the programme.
The joint venture will support the ministry鈥檚 project execution team during the procurement process by preparing architectural design and engineering works tender dossiers. The team will manage a complex procurement process to be organised in more than 25 of the Ministry of Education鈥檚 regional offices.
The consortium will prepare the design, manage and supervise the works contracts and provide financial management services, as well as supporting the ministry鈥檚 team in complying with EIB鈥檚 quality assurance, procurement, environmental and social requirements.
