The scheme, designed by P+HS Architects and due to be delivered by offsite manufacturer McAvoy, seeks to refurbish bedrooms on two wards of the mental health facility with en-suite provision for each room, and to construct a new two-storey block using modular construction.
The project has been co-produced with Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust's service users and clinical and estates teams. The design has focussed on access to natural light, views, outdoor space and calm, legible internal layouts, to support patient recovery and to enable high-quality care.
Therese Patten, chief executive of Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is an important milestone for the Trust and for the people who rely on our mental health services. The redevelopment of the central block will bring significant improvements to Lynfield Mount Hospital. We are delighted to have received this final stage of approval as it gives us the go ahead to start making our exciting vision a reality.”
