Balfour Beatty bags £180m of Heathrow work

28 May 14 Balfour Beatty has been appointed to deliver up to £180m of infrastructure works for Heathrow Airport.

Over the next three years Balfour Beatty will help to maintain and upgrade Terminals 1, 2 and 4, through the 鈥榙elivery integrator framework lot 1鈥.

This is the first of four new-style framework contracts to be awarded by Heathrow, each for a different section of the airport, as part of a total investment package of 拢1.5bn. The new frameworks have a single contractor for each of the four lots.

Balfour Beatty will be programme manager and contractor at various stages throughout the lifecycle of the framework, delivering individual projects worth between 拢500,000 and 拢70m. Projects will range from structural improvements to replacing escalators, lifts, air conditioning systems, and CCTV and security systems.

There is an option to extend the framework at the end of 2016 for a further two years, which will be worth up to an additional 拢70m.

Balfour Beatty has a 15-year association with Heathrow having worked on two previous frameworks. It is currently building the new 拢590m Terminal 2B facility as part of the Terminal 2 complex, due to open this summer.
