Rope & Marine Services Ltd (RAMS) is an independent, privately owned, London based company. We are main agents and stockists for all leading brands of quality lifting equipment, extensive stocks of New and Hire equipment are held at our London works. Lifting equipment is our business and we take great pride in the safe, reliable, personalized, efficient and cost effective service we provide to industry.

Established in 1948 RAMS has vast experience in the manufacture, supply and hire of lifting equipment. Originally formed to supply steel wire ropes and fibre ropes to the marine sector, hence our docklands location. RAMS still retains strong links with the marine world and its support industries. Over the years however, reacting to demand, we have expanded our activities and now supply lifting equipment and associated components to the oil industry, aerospace and automobile industries, lift and escalator industries, the entertainment world and major civil engineering projects. No job is too small or large, whether a simple 'A' frame gantry for use in a garage or a major design and build of lifting equipment and attachments for use in construction of a power plant.

Our success lies in our ability to manufacture in house a wide range of bespoke lifting assemblies and standard equipment, either to clients requirements or to our design. Supporting our fabrication facility is a well-equipped machine shop and blacksmiths area, as well as comprehensive in house testing facilities and a dedicated team of qualified professional staff. Alloy Chain Shop : Assembly of Kuplex & Gunnebo Chain Systems, chain stock from 7mm to 26mm dia, rumbling, examination, repair, test & certification of the same.

Blacksmith Shop : Manufacture of Welded Chain Assemblies (plus repair & test), manufacture of Special Shackles, Forgings etc, General Forge Work, Bar Bending, Power Press Work etc. Atom Hydrogen Welding / Heat Treatment Facilities.

Blockshop : Repair & Test Service for all makes of Chain Blocks (powered & manual), Tirfors, Winches, Lever Hoists, Sheave Blocks, Crane Return Blocks, Swivels, Hydraulic Jacks, Pumps & Cylinders.

Rigging Shop : Manufacture of mechanically spliced Wire Rope or Multi-Leg Assemblies (range 3mm up to 52mm dia) carried out on our 1000 Ton & two 300 Ton Hydraulic Presses. Stainless Steel Yacht Rigging and Hand Splicing also available.

Webbing Shop : Manufacture of Polyester Webbing Slings to order, standard width 25mm up to 300mm in 1/ply or 2/ply thickness giving SWL range 500kg up to 12000kg. Special Pipe Lifting Slings, Ditching Belts, Slab Slings & Boat Handling Slings also available up to 1200mm width. Webbing Ratchet Load Lashing made to order in 25mm, 50mm & 75mm widths.

Machine Shop : Centre Lathe Turning (max 1.5mtr swing), Milling, Shaping, Drilling (3" dia max), Boring & Threading.

Fabrication Shop : Design & Manufacture of Overhead Cranes, Gantries & Structures, Mechanical Handling Equipment, Lifting Beams, Swing Jib Cranes, General Engineering, Steel Fabrication (115 t capacity wide throat Steelworker) Profiling, Arc, Gas & Mig Welding.

Testing Facilities : 100 Ton (18mtr) & 30 Ton (6mtr) Tensile Testing Machines. 250 tonne Jack Test Rig, 200 tonne capacity Vertical Test Tower with 15mtr long x 4mtr wide ISO Ground Jig. Chain Block Test Rig. Dead Weights Load Test Facilities and Load Cells up to 500 tonne.
